Nd:GdVO4, or Neodymium-doped Gadolinium Vanadate, is a laser active crystal that is used as a gain medium in solid-state lasers. The crystal is made by doping a small amount of neodymium ions into the crystal lattice of gadolinium vanadate. The presence of neodymium ions gives the crystal the ability to amplify light, making it useful for a variety of laser applications, including material processing, spectroscopy, and medical treatments. Nd:GdVO4 has a relatively high absorption cross section and a wide gain bandwidth, making it a highly efficient gain medium for solid-state lasers.
