HORIBA STEC, Co., Ltd., a prominent group company within the HORIBA Group's semiconductor business, is making significant strides with the construction of a new factory in Fukuchiyama City, Kyoto Prefecture. This investment reflects the company's commitment to meeting the increasing demand within the semiconductor market and enhancing its production capabilities for essential products like mass flow controllers (MFC) and chemical concentration monitors.

The decision to establish this new facility stems from the remarkable growth of HORIBA's semiconductor business, marked by the achievement of net sales and operating profit targets set out in the "MLMAP2023" management plan two years ahead of schedule. As part of its expansion and production enhancement strategy, the new factory will boast the HORIBA Group's largest ever investment of approximately 17 billion yen and is expected to commence construction in July 2024, with completion slated for January 2026.

Key elements of this development include:

Increased Production Capacity: The new factory will significantly bolster HORIBA STEC's MFC production capacity in Japan, potentially tripling the current output in comparison to the Kyoto and Aso factories. Additionally, it will produce chemical concentration monitors and other products related to the semiconductor and allied business sectors. This expansion aims to fortify the company's supply capabilities across various product lines.

Advanced Manufacturing Technologies: With a production area spanning approximately 10,000 m², the new facility will integrate state-of-the-art equipment and advanced automation processes. These measures are designed to optimize efficiency and accommodate long-term demand growth. Notably, the installation of a renewable energy system utilizing hydrogen-generated power will contribute to the company's environmental sustainability efforts.

Synergistic Research and Development: Situated alongside the Kyoto Fukuchiyama Technology Center, the new factory will benefit from collaborative efforts to harness cutting-edge technologies. This synergy will facilitate the early implementation of innovative solutions, further enhancing product performance and expediting the development cycle.

The construction of the new HORIBA STEC factory represents a strategic initiative to strengthen production capabilities, ensure a stable supply chain, and leverage synergies for continuous technological advancement within the semiconductor industry.
