According to recent data from China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the production output of integrated circuits (IC) in China declined by 3.9% to 191.2 billion units in the first seven months of 2023. Concurrently, the electronics and IT manufacturing sector experienced a marginal increase of 0.1% in added value during the same period.

Within the IC sector, mobile phone production decreased by 1.6% year-on-year to 810 million units, with smartphones experiencing a more significant decline of 7.9% year-on-year at 593 million units. Additionally, microcomputer equipment production witnessed a substantial drop of 24.4% to 189 million units.

China's IC exports also faced a decrease, totaling 151.7 billion units in the first seven months, representing an 8.3% year-on-year decline. Similarly, the export delivery value of the electronic information manufacturing sector above the designated size also decreased by 8.3% year-on-year during this period.

Further data released by the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) indicates a decline in laptop exports, falling by 23.1% year-on-year to 80.32 million units in the first seven months. Additionally, mobile phone exports from China declined by 11.8% year-on-year, reaching 414 million units.
