SK Powertech, a subsidiary of SK Corporation, has recently commenced mass production of silicon carbide (SiC) wafers at its newly established factory in Busan. Following a trial production phase that began in March, the factory moved on to mass production after the incorporation of ion injectors. The company aims to achieve an annual production capacity of 29,000 6-inch wafers by the end of the year, tripling the previous capacity of the factory when it was located in Pohang.
