Just a few weeks ago, onsemi had quintupled its production of SiC boules in Hudson, New Hampshire. Now the company in Roznov, Czech Republic, is expanding its production of SiC epitaxial wafers and chips by a factor of 16.

In Roznov, Czech Republic, onsemi will expand its production of SiC epitaxial wafers and chips by a factor of 16.

In 2019, onsemi added manufacturing of SiC epitaxial wafers and chips in Roznov , Czech Republic . After the original site had become too small, a new building was erected last year to further expand SiC wafer and epitaxial production. This has now been officially opened.

According to the company, the capacity of SiC production at the site is to increase 16-fold over the next two years, and 200 jobs are to be created by the end of 2024. So far, onsemi has invested more than $150 million in the Roznov site and plans to allocate another $300 million by 2023. Onsemi was recently awarded the Association for Foreign Investments (AFI) prize for these investments in the Czech Republic.
