Poongsan Microtec is speeding up the semiconductor materials and equipment business which is new power of growth. The company obtained the patent on June 7th, 2006 for the supplying equipment of riveting machine that contributed to the epochal reduction of the production cost by automation.
Riveting machine is that combines leadframe and heat protection plate. The company is now able to create a streamlined handling process with the automated technology that can put the whole reel-type heat protection plates in the riveting machine without cutting one by one.
Besides, Poongsan Microtec has applied for the patent in the country on June 1st, 2006 after applying for the patent on developing equipments and progress of work related to low temperature and high pressure heat treatment of semiconductor wafers in the U.S.
The U.S. subsidiary has currently completed equipment reconstruction and the test using various kinds of gas to create high pressure is in progress. It is expected to take about 9 months to create a mass production facility which begins development this coming July.
The company is now entering in protection of intellectual property rights regarding the semiconductor heat treatment apparatus by applying for the patent at home following the U.S. At the same time, it is anticipated to be in great demand as many allied companies express their interests supplying materials without compensation.
Meanwhile, the sales of the Philippines and China subsidiary exceeded 2 million dollars espectively in May and it was the best monthly actual result ever.
The Philippine subsidiary made a record of 12 million dollars in sales last year, but the sales of this year(up to May) are over 8 million dollars showing the sales of 2.3 million dollars just in May.
The Chinese subsidiary also recorded sales of 15 million dollars last year, but the sales of this year(up to May) are more than 8.6 million dollars passing the sales of 2 million dollars just in May.
If this trend keeps up, both two subsidiaries are expected to achieve the best sales in the history of the companies as well as attaining this year’s sales target.
