AZUR SPACE Solar Power is the European leader and a global player in development and production of multi-junction solar cells for space PV and terrestrial CPV applications. These mentioned parameters are only a few advantages of our multi-junction solar cells based on III-V compound semiconductor materials compared to other PV materials. Our product range covers high-efficiency solar cells optimized for space and terrestrial CPV applications as well as components with a higher integration level or even customized solutions.

Based upon our experience in designing high efficiency III-V multi-junction solar cells, AZUR SPACE developed a range of optoelectronic receiver products with unique features for applications requiring electrical insulation (opto-couplers, solid state relays) or conversion of optical power into electrical power (power supply of remote circuits and sensors).

Compared to state-of-the-art Si based devices, AZUR III/V products offer higher voltage and efficiency, up to 5 times higher current for a given die size, less heat dissipation, up to 180°C maximum operating temperature and a lower temperature coefficient.

Space Solar Cells offer high efficiencies, starting from the 28% class and ending in the high-end cell class of 32% -Advanced. 

All solar cells include the latest triple /and quadruple junction technology, where GaInP/GaAs/Ge layers are grown on a Germanium substrate and the whole product range benefits from many years’ experience on the space market. AZUR SPACE has already delivered over 1.5 million triple-junction GaAs solar cells to a wide range of customers. In addition to our standard solar cells, AZUR SPACE offers various possibilities of customized products on individual requirements.

The AZUR SPACE diodes offer a highly reliable and well- proven protection of individual cells from negative bias in case of their possible inhomogeneous illumination in the string or damages.

There are two types of bypass diodes available. An external Si diode as well as a GaAs diode, which is monolithically integrated in the solar cell structure. As all of our space solar cells, both diode types are space- qualified and applicable for LEO, MEO and GEO missions.

SPACE Wafers contain triple junction InGaP/GaAs/Ge epi-layer structures with efficiencies of up to 30% available in large-scale production.

These wafers can be used for any further processing and customized cell designs.

The AZUR SPACE wafers are produced in a 100mm design, but the next generation of 150mm wafers is already in development.

As the key component of a photovoltaic system, solar cells significantly contribute to the total costs of a CPV power plants. The demand to keep these costs as low as possible is clearly identified: high efficiency and reliability of our cells on the large-scale production level is the strategy we pursue. In order to further reduce manufacturing costs, AZUR SPACE is transferring its existing 100mm wafer technology to 150mm.

ADAM (Advanced Dense Array Module) is a dense array module for the use in parabolic mirror based on CPV systems.

In addition to the solar array with electrical efficiency of 32 %, ADAM contains a highly efficient, active cooling board, whose thermal energy can be used for industrial process purposes or residential heating or air-conditioning installations.
